Parks (GAPP) Corps INTERNSHIP

The 6th Annual NYC Parks Green Applied Projects at Parks (GAPP) Corps is a eighteen week program for 18-24 year olds, funded by the NYC Center for Economic Opportunity (February 27th – June 30th, 2017) and earn $11.00 per hour (35 hours a week) totaling up to $6,930. The program’s focus is to provide Corps Members with paid work experience while assisting in their development of employment readiness skills. GAPP Corps Members work as a team within a single park, with a focus on beautifying their environment while preparing the property for the summer. GAPP Corps members work 35 hours a week for eighteen weeks, with four days spent at work assignments and one day at employment readiness workshops or HSE Classes.

Work Description:

GAPP Corps members perform general maintenance and operations functions – including removing graffiti, cleaning drainage structures, trail maintenance, basic landscaping, weeding and pruning, and fence repair. In certain locations Corps members help improve the conditions of natural areas –including the removal of invasive species, implementing erosion control measures, and general lake clean up measures.

What Should Your Participants Bring?

• Valid NYS Identification Card - (DMW non-driver, NYS Benefit card, IDNYC card and Passport)

• Original Social Security cardResume, Pen and Positive AttitudeBusiness Casual Attire

We will conduct interviews sessions the week of February 6th and February 13th. We are requesting candidates come dressed in business casual attire (khakis and button up/polo collared shirt for men; skirt or dress slacks for ladies with button up/casual tops). **Please note: Interested candidates must bring a letter of Compliance or Completion from their Probation Officer.** Click here for the flyer
